Javed Chaudhry - host of Kal Tak program in Pakistan - describes the powerful hold of the Military Establishment on the country by citing the treatment of General Yahya Khan. Despite being responsible for the tragic loss of East Pakistan and being viewed by public as the greatest villain in the country's history, Yahya was nevertheless buried with official honors. According to Javed, it is practically impossible for any politician to stand up to a ruler with army background and that the announced prosecution of former President, General Musharraf, is viewed by many as a smokescreen.

  • No one can challenge the army in pakistan because though they r the RULERS they project themselves to be the saviors of the country . In fact the Pak army will never let there be peace between India and Pakistan because if there is peace and friendship such big armies r not required . In India the army is not the ruler they do not decide policy so they cannot hinder the peace process but the Pakistan army decides policy and they will always ensure that there is no peace because

As a Pakistani, I agree 100% with your assessment. Analyst Ahmed Rashid put it best when he said: "All countries have an army. In Pakistan, the army has a country." The "animosity" between India and Pakistan is a direct consequence of Pak Army's desire to guarantee its unprecedented privileges by projecting a threat and then acting as a savior. Even when the army is supposedly not in power - eg, when parliament is in session - it remains very much in charge behind the scenes.

  • Javaid is one of the resist and illiterate anchor I have ever seen. He even can’t speak URDU properly and through repeating history he trying to become intellectual. Who make these people so called “anchor”. In recent interview with Nawaz Sharif he was like he was clearly asking the questions which Nawaz (chore league) wanted. It was so obvious and they way he was asking like he want to be promoted in near future. Come on man get a life and some courage.
