Richard Breeden wrote and copyrighted this song and David Johnson created this slide show as a tribute to those who were members of the family at Ford Motor Company's Hapeville Assembly Plant.
October 27, 2006 brought the end of the Taurus and Sable production.
As we move on to our new life, we look back to remember what was such an important part of our past.
We left a Legacy.
Good Luck and a Happy Future to you all.

I own one of the last Tauruses sold to the public, and will always consider it the pinnacle of automobile production from the 2005 era.

I only hope America will realize that the auto industry touches 75% of the retail world and our demise will have a national, if not global, effect on the economy.

  • Thanks to all for the comments. My fellow AAP Brothers and Sisters built the finest family car made, and still made money on it when Ford wasn't selling to the public.

Awards, Industry recognition, Corporate efficiency targets, and numerous other goals were met and/or exceeded, but since we were only an entry in a spreadsheet, Bean Counters busted up our family.

I consider the 11 years I spent with Ford at that facility the proudest years of my 30+ years working for anyone!!!!!

  • And why aren't we allowed to at least take a look at what's outside of the automobile manufacturing plant!!!

  • Excellent!! Hope things are well for all.

  • Great video, beautiful song, GREAT job on both! I'd always heard Atlanta Tauruses were of higher quality than their Chicago counterparts.

  • this is like watching a montage of your high school years, you never truly realized how great things were until there gone forever...

  • 99, Great video. It is so sad that there is a big hole where the plant used to be. The ending with the Harbour Award along with the Motor Trend Car of the Year is really a testament to this country's rush to out source our very best jobs. We achieved all we were asked to and some of that after they announced that we were closing. We were the best and that group will never be put back together to build cars or any other product. This is a sad legacy that we pass on to our children.

  • I just drove past Atlanta assembly in late December (found it by accident - im from wisconsin, was in atlanta on extended layover from bad weather). They built a good car. My pop's 96 Merc Sable - it is missed.

  • Anyone know why the 2000-2006 ford taurus didnt have the two mufflers the the 96-99 models?

  • Sad to watch this video. I went on a tour of the plant in July of 2005, seemed to be a great bunch of people that worked there. My mother bought a 2002 Taurus SEL brand new, and that car gave 148,000 miles of flawless service before getting totaled out in a wreck. She had absolutely zero problems with that car. Even after the wreck, I was still able to drive the car a couple of miles home under it's own power.

Best of luck to all who worked there.
