  • when record a loop and play it back do you have to hit the rewind button or does it start at the begining like the R-8? ive been looking for someone to post a video for a long time thanks..Rudy in Detroit.

  • Hi Rudy, it works very much like the R8 which I also owned many years ago. In play mode as soon as you press stop/start it plays the pattern/loop from the very beginning. There are some buttons either side to the play/start button for moving the pattern/loop back between previous and next pattern/loop. It seems to only do this in song mode for going through your chained patterns/loops.

  • I am not aware that you can fast-forward or rewind back and forth through a pattern/loop. However, I could be wrong and have never noticed it on the R-70, R-5 or R-8. I hope my rambling description is of use to you LOL. Kind regards Paul.

  • The percussion on this machine is fantastic. Played with one once and was also very impressed by the stock African rhythm patterns in there.

  • I have just found out there was an electronic drum kit version of the R-70 the Roland TD-7 which seems to have even more sounds on it. You may already khnow this but I'd thought I would point it out incase it was of interest to you.

  • I wonder if you can turn the FX off completely, leaving the sounds totally dry. The FX are typically over the top and drenched and artificial; maybe ok for electronic music but for rock and metal they are not natural sounding enough. Korg products are even worse! Anyway a lot of the sounds are quite nice otherwise. I personally own two Yamaha RY30 and a RM50 rack.

  • My Roland R5 is up for auction right now on eBay

  • wow i am pretty impressed with how good this drum machine sounds. i mean to my ears this machines sounds kill the mc505. i would have thought the mc505 would have a much better sound than this unit but i am really shocked with how good it sounds. i mean the sounds in this video really sounds big. theres one of these on craigs locally. i might just have to grab it based on your videos. i mean the 808 kit sounds a lot like a 808 lol. really cool series of videos thanks for posting them. super cool

  • I have one of these, I bought back in 1997. I have beats still programmed in it. This machine makes nice beats. I go by the name of Dj Frank Nice. Check out my beat cds (NOTHING BUT BEATS VOL #1 & #2) ON REVERBNATION AND SOUNDCLICK

  • Nice

  • Great post these 3 videos! I bought one a 11 years ago but it's not working properly anymore for at least 8 :( do you have any ideas where it can be fixed?

  • @AnjelicasBaby

If you stop mid pattern you can hit 'Shift' + 'Play' and it will restart where it was stopped.

  • Great sounds! :-)
