A short instumental piece using these great analogue synths. There are two tracks of Oberheim Matrix 1000, and one track of Sequential Circuits six trak. I'm posting this vid as an example of the kind of sounds you can get from these fantastic (and cheap) synths. Some more vids soon (with some live action next time, hopefully).

  • I cannot believe how incredible this sounds. You did a fantastic job with the patches. I'd say you almost perfectly created an actual stringed instrument sound. This can't be easy to do, so please keep up the hard work!

  • @acemonvw thanks....the analogue machines can give a played 'human' feel to strings etc., so that helps.

  • Thanks very much! It's very much a moment in time that has been captured, so i'm going to leave as it is.

  • i am curious of what part of this composition is played with the six trak as i have one myself and never achieve this lush sounding sounds, are you using external reverb-chorus?

  • @antoniomichelena The main lead notes are the six-trak. It's a unison sound - when a key is held down the pitch descends, but if held down and released quickly the pitch descends and returns making it sound like 2 notes are being played. The effect was a mid reverb and slight delay (Zoom RFX2000).

  • The only good demo of these synths on the whole net...The pad is very lush and quite surprised at how good it sounds as I have never been a big fan of the Matrix

  • @vinyljunkie07 I think the matrix is pretty boring as a preset machine (apart from a few great sounds). To really unlock its potential, a software editor is required (i use sounddiver for the pc, which works extremely well). Then it becomes a monster of a synth!

  • Amazing composition ans beautifull sounds, all sounds just perfect! Listened at least 20 times this week. Are you gonna work further on this.. ?

  • Great sounds and composition..

  • Very nice!

  • Thanks for posting this, really enjoyed it.

I agree about the Six-trak, loved mine when I had it years ago; I think it has a slight melancholy feel to it. Great for getting those Aphex Twin SAWII pads from years ago.

  • peace of mind

  • Wow. I've been on the hunt for a Matrix 1000 and a decent demo for a long time. And guess what? This morning my Guitar Center got a used Matrix 1000 and a used Six Trak in for $270 a piece! Snatched them both up real quick. These are literally exactly what I needed to warrant my purchases. Thanks.
