The residents of tent city Nickelsville were being evicted by the city of Seattle on Thursday July 23, 2009. Many concerned fellow citizens came out to help the Nickelsvillers relocate peacefully without putting up a fight. Friday night, after a hard day of work getting the new location in shape, Nickelsville was visited near dusk by Port of Seattle Police. They handed everyone another Notice to Vacate. Nickelsvillers have until Aug 21 to leave the encampment at Terminal 107. The new camp site is owned by the Duwamish tribe but administered by Seattle Port Authority. There are over 8000 people every night in Seattle on the street or in temporary shelters. Economy is bad enough, do we need more people on the streets of Seattle?

  • This is great! I wish I could have been there ;-)

Where is their new home located? Is it as nice/big of area?

Keep me posted when your looking for film help again. Do you have a longer video of this or was this the complete final piece?

  • To get to Nickelsville, take the bus #21 from 1st and Pine in Seattle and get off at the Harbor Island Terminal. Walk 1 mile South on West Marginal Way. The camp is located at terminal 107
