August 31st, 2009 railfanning action!

Train 1: I started off in Joliet after finding out that an Amtrak was due soon. Amtrak P42DC 72 highballs the outbound Texas Eagle 21 south through Joliet, IL., on the UP Joliet Subdivision.

Train 2: I then headed out towards Mazon. I stopped at Subway and the gas station. As I was leaving Subway and coming up to the tracks, the gates began to activate. A pair of BNSF Dash 9's, 4131 and 5516 lead a westbound manifest through Mazon, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 3: I headed further south to Kinsman after Mazon. As I was crossing the tracks in town, I saw an eastbound headlight in the distance. BNSF ES44DC 7204, BNSF Dash 9 4866, BNSF Dash 9 5442 lead an eastbound intermodal through Kinsman, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 4: After Kinsman, it was off to Ransom. BNSF B40-8W's 504 and 515 lead the 101 local east through Ransom, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 5: This one about blew me over. It also blew my hat off. BNSF ES44DC 7565, BNSF Dash 9 5024, BNSF Dash 9 5155 and BNSF Dash 9 4820 highball a westbound intermodal through Ransom, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision.

Train 6: I then began to head back north. In Mazon, I ran into a train. BNSF Dash 9's 5309, 5189 and 5215 lead a westbound intermodal through Mazon, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision. An interesting note here. This crossing features a Safetran Type 1 electronic bell.

Train 7: While driving through Coal City, I saw a westbound headlight coming around the corner, just as I was crossing the tracks. This one had quite a leader! Santa Fe Warbonnet Dash 9 671 is in charge of the M CNIKCK, headed west through Coal City, IL., on the BNSF Chillicothe Subdivision. Trailing is a BNSF Dash 9 and a BNSF ES44DC.

BNSF cascade green 2751 and BNSF swoosh 2828 pull a switch move past us.

two BNSF dash9s led by 4732 led grain tank and gondola cars buy and on " display " in a nother track were the BNSF 500 , 2 Geeps one swooshed one in H1 and a hevaly taged BN caboose
