You don't need to sprint everywhere. You only really should sprint to escape a threat, cross a 1-block gap, or to make a long jump. You tend to sprint blindly into trouble.

Traps aren't hard to spot. Pay attention. You can also throw the girl into the path and she'll take the dart for you.

Buying from the shop is easy. Just don't hit him (including with his own wares). If you need to put something down (otherwise P to purchase), just put it down inside the shop, but a good ways away from him.
