*UPDATE: I uploaded another video on this because the audio was bad. Check it out in my videos or below in the video responses.

Unrevoked Page:

http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=776477

Available for Linux, Mac, and Windows:
http://www.unrevoked.com/recovery/

Please start by visiting the help page and reading it through:

http://unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php/public/unrevoked3

1. Windows users MUST install the HBOOT drivers for this to work:
http://www.unrevoked.com/rootwiki/doku.php?id=public:windows_hboot_driver_ins...

2. Windows users need to uninstall HTC Sync or any other program that might talk to the phone over USB (doubletwist, etc). Disabling HTC Sync from the system tray is not enough. They interfere with the root process and will cause problems.

3. When asked for USB connection type, select "Charge Only" and "Remember this".

Read the details of this page so you know what to download.

To flash CM6 after rooting, you will need to flash this bootloader:

  • after the first boot it goes to the sprint screen and not to bootloader...

  • @smason16 what software version is your evo cuz if it has a number beginning with 3.30 or 3.70 it cannot be rooted by unrevoked

  • @AbuNoahSantana yeah im running 3.30, what prolly the next best way to root?

  • @smason16 Urevoked just released 3.3 so it will root new evos. so search Unrevoked 3.3 and try that. I'll make a video as soon as I can.

  • is there a way to root with a mac?

  • @miamiironwarrior Yes there is a way. i think its the same as this except you don't have to install the drivers.

  • YUUUUUU FUCKIN SUCK ASSS IT DONT FUCKIN WORK BITTCCCHHH

  • Awesome! After 8 days of trying to root my Evo 4G with AutoRoot 2.2i I finally got it rooted by using your Unrevoked 3.2.1 video instructions. It was good the way that you explained how to install the Android Bootloader interface drivers and uninstall HTC Sync FIRST... Thanks!!!! It took me 5 hours but I'm finally done.

  • my enrevoked keeps saying validation error: backup CID is missing. Any ideas or help???

  • After it reboots from recovery it looks like a scrambled screen before it goes black my old evo never did that but I did the manual root. Is this normal? Every video I seen so far they cut off or look at the computer screen at that time.

  • @AbuNoahSantana yeah actually did it earlier yesterday and love it. thanks for all the help man.

  • how can i root my evo 4g, i've tried everything and nothing works. how do i get the revoked program to root? everything i try it always says unable to tether
