Joan Fontaine looks so like Julie Christie. Never noticed it before. Great film. Great book. Can never understand why Daphne Du Maurier is not more widely recognized as a truly superior writer. Her other book "My Cousin Rachel" is outstanding too.

Huge Rebecca fan- the book was spectacular!
Joan Fontaine quite frankly was the best thing in this film! I loved her, she played the main character so well! Great actress.

I am so glad Hitchcock went with Joan Fontaine over Vivian Leigh. She's so much better as The Second Mrs. De Winter.

Watched it on TV again - still takes my breath away - Joan Fontaine - niave/bumbling/inadequate - Lawrence Olivier - so worldly wise/sauve/sophisticated - add in Judith Anderson as the faithful/dedicated mad bitch and it's an amazing recipe. Love it.
