I love Laurence Olivier and Joan Fontaine and I LOVE Hitchcock! This is perhaps my favourite film by H., I have watched it so many times..old Hollywood movies were great, thanks to my brother I have watched most of Hitchcock's films...it's strange that old movies had a quality most modern films lack ...

Sir Laurence is breathtakingly handsome :)

Olivier is dashing indeed. But if Robert Donat had accepted the role, probably the character of Joan Fontaine would not have been able to get a bite of her scrambled egg, would you? Check out Robert Donat in the 39 Steps and his hot movie with Marlene Dietrich. He's definitely irresistable and his accent matches with Joan's. Joan's amazing in Rebecca. You'd like to watch her scenes over and over again. Only Audrey Hepburn has the same touch as Joan.

I have this version of "Rebecca". My mother has the 1979 version.

@punksandra I know this comment is old, but I thought I'd add that du Maurier (author of Rebecca) never gave her a name, which holds true to the film as well.
