Roll with the Changes (A Kevin Jonas Daughter Story) Chapter 6 Part 1

*Rachels POV*
I awoke later and we weren't in the car anymore. I was laying on a king size bed surrounded by blue walls. There was a very think, warm comforter tucked around me. This is the comfiest and warmest I had ever been when I was asleep. Dreading getting up from this heaven, I slowly pushed myself out of bed and down the stairs. I started to think about what will happen to me. Certainly, Kevin doesn't want a sixteen-year-old girl. He probably just felt bad for me and wanted me to have a day or two of freedom. In a few days, I would be back in the orphanage with Hope, and his life would be back to normal. Wait...HOPE! I left her there all alone! Something's definitely gonna happen! I walked down the stairs as fast as I could and turned into the kitchen to find Kevin and another woman drinking coffee. They both whipped around when they heard me coming.
"Ah, Rachel! I see you're awake. How was your nap?" Kevin asked me.
"It was great. Thanks for asking. I haven't slept that well since...ever," I laughed and they soon joined in. We sat there in silence and I stared at the woman until Kevin broke the silence.
"Oh! This is my mother and your grandmother, Denise." I reached out my hand for her to shake, but she just extended her arms out, awaiting a hug. Smiling, I engulfed her in a bear hug and she chuckled.
"So, Kevin-" he interrupted me.
"You can call me Dad if you want." I nodded and continued.
"Dad," I corrected myself, "when are you gonna bring me back to the orphanage because I can't leave Hope there alone for too long."
"What do you mean 'bring you back to the orphanage'?" he questioned.
"Aren't you just spending a few days with me and then bringing me back and going along with your life like before?" Once I finished my sentence, a look of astonishment grew upon his face.
"No! Of course not! What would make you think something like that?"
"Well, Im sixteen, and what I've learned in the past is that people don't want sixteen year old girls. I'm not sure why, but they don't."
"I just found you. There is no way I'm giving you back up!" We hugged. He spoke a few seconds later. "What were you saying about Hope?"
"Whose Hope?" Grandma asked me. I was too nervous to answer. No one outside of the orphanage was supposed to know what went on inside. Not even Heather knows. What she does know, however, is how unfair Regina can be. The one thing she doesn't know is that Regina is abusive. I looked back and forth between my dad and grandma who both looked extremely concerned seeing that it was serious since I wasnt answering. My dad put his hand on my shoulder.
"Sweetie, it's ok. You can tell me anything. If you don't want anyone else to know, not one word about it will leave my mouth; however, if this has to do with the safety of someone else, especially a best friend," he turned to Grandma, "which would be Hope, Momma," he faced me again, "you gotta let someone know about it." Hmm, he has a point there. If I was staying out of that hellhole, so was she. I mean, she's been there as long as I have; we're practically sisters!
Well...uh...the orphanage owner kinda...actually she...she abuses us," I finally came out with it. A sign of shock mixed with rage and understanding grew across his face.
