At a time of economic crisis and emerging threats to UK security such as international terrorism, failed states, pandemic diseases and above all, climate change, the government is still poised to commit tens of billions to two Cold War-style defence projects.
Is replacing the Trident nuclear weapons system and building and equipping Britains largest ever aircraft supercarriers still relevant or necessary?
A new Greenpeace report, In the Firing Line, asks whether these hugely expensive projects still represent value for money, and whether they can deliver real security for the UK.

@KierenMan Bet your fear of being attacked by China and India doesn't stop you buying cheap clothes and consumer electronics from them does it? Get a grip, dude, you don't nuke your best customers very bad for business!
Actually though, maybe you're right. Now you've badmouthed them both in public I'd be a little concerned. China's probably planning revenge right now - gonna nip round your house while you're at work and smash up your tin soldier collection, I wouldn't be surprised...

I'm from Barrow, my dad and my mate's job are reliant on Trident. Political? Military? This is personal! Solutions?
No more quangos
More taxes on the rich
No more money to the EU
Nationalize rail and reap profits
