Hey mike i was wondering  what is the longest trains you can run on both the lines at the same time without any problems i like to run long trains and i also like your layout but i noticed you where not running that long of trains on it thanks

The only long train I run is the El Capitan. I just do not like long trains on small layouts.

I could run a 50 car train but it would be running through every location at the same time.

If you build a layout for long trains , I feel it should only have open scenery.

Mike, I do like your layout, out of interest, I can see your plans for the layout on the benchwork at around 3:17. Just wondering if you could direct me to the software used to create them? Struggling to draw my layout accurately. Thanks in advance. :)

All I do is measure out a 100" piece of sting with a knot at both ends , then at 25" tie another knot. I then lay the string on the tracks path and mark every 25". If the grade is 2% then the tallest would be 2" the next stringer or lift would be 1 1/2" and the next 1 " and so on.
