@steamnnitro ~ I remember the Surfers, back in the middle 60's. I know for a fact, after overhearing a conversation between Mike Skinner and Ronnie Hampshire, at Lions, in 1966 ~ Skinner told Ronnie that they tried "their damnest" to run 100% in the tank but as Skinner explained, "it just wouldn't idle." So they backed it down to 98% and let everyone THINK it was the can & the label in the tank. Loved that car. Was at OCIR, late '67, when Sirokin was killed in Tony Waters' top fuel car.
