David was already a good ruler. It's true that after Rush meeting, he became more selfconfident
At beginning, David want to use Rush power's for obtain Athlum independance (he already know that Rush possess strong power) and for having Rush near him for use it, he need to help him. Of course after it will totally change.
That's why Irina is important for David, but after discovered what happen with Wagam, i think David will start to change his mind and truly help Rush for saving Irina.

since rush is his good man, david is a good ruler too. And he found out that the evil sorcerer should be taken to justice and irina must be rescued.

If you like what you see (battle system and stuff), then you might like it. I can't say if you'll like it or not since I'm not you heh.
Just know that if you're playing on SDTV the fonts will be a little hard to read.. also there are graphic popups and frame rate loss in battle (especially with lots of enemies).
