I've had a few emails requesting tips on improvising on the blues. This is the first step, how to use the blues and chromatic scales to add colour (tension & release) to your playing. As you can hear, the combination of weaving between scale and chromatic tones really makes the phrases sound jazzy.

  • hey u have the back track???

  • @AUXILIODICHOSO The track is available in volume 42 Blues in all keys by Jamey Abersold it's well worth the price & study.

    Cheers, Steve...

  • what mouthpiece are u using??

  • @MrDerkian10 Dave Guardala on this one...

  • One pedantic correction: it's Aebersold and you keep writing Abersold.

  • @franco6719 I will correct that at some point lol...

  • What mouthpiece are you using? Very good by the way!!

  • Wonderful tone, even through video

  • You are a remarkably well co -ordinated man , sir!

  • That is a great lesson thanks. Does this work over all chord changes and music styles. Also, I see you use minor blues scale what do you think about the same thing but with the major blues scale so using A,B,C,C#,E,F# instead of the minor? Thank you for the lesson.

  • @groovetonemusic Grazie. ;)
