@fueledbychrist As far as hats, that can totally be true. Sometimes cultural tradition can be infringed on and offend the Lord, like the head coverings in the Corinthian church were specific to their culture, but still biblically wrong because of what they conveyed there. I don't think it should be considered any more offensive to do it in church than anywhere else though, if that's what your church promotes. A church building is no more sacred than any other. It's just a building.
It's one thing to say one is filled with the Spirit but it's an entirely different one to draw something from the verses that just aren't there and the majority of charismatic churches today do just that. They'll speak in tongues in service but Scripture clearly goes against the tongues they often use in services, which distracts (1 Corinthians 14) In fact, the Holy Spirit most charismatics in America submit to often leads to things not even outlined in Scripture But he WROTE the Scriptures...
"If it’s a sin to get drunk then what kinda Spirit makes you a fumbling idiot? (consider this)And when did it become known of the Holy Ghost/ to take control of folks and do things that the scriptures don’t promote (Umm)
Acts 2:4,12-17 speaks about being"drunk"in the spirit.I believe not wearing regular hats in church is as a sign of respect just as you wouldn't wear one in a classroom.Ecclesiastes 3:1"There is an appointed time for everything. And there is a time for every event under heaven".
This is definitely using your gift for God! It's good that you know the Word and try to teach the listeners to look up the Word to see if what we're used to in church is lining up biblically. Good work!
