I couldn't help but notice that the U.S.S. Coral Sea had a lot of smoke coming from her stack. I was onboard U.S.S. William H. Standley CG 32 on her 1979 - 1980 West Pac and we escorted the "Coral Maru" almost the whole time. She smoked quite a bit then too. I guess some things never change.

I was aboard USS Sterett CG-31. Visited Chi' Lung Taiwan, but not Kaoshung, 1975. This gives me tears. Great music.

Brings back some memories. Had an uncle who served in Blue in WWII or just after. Hoel was with us on the gunline in Vietnam in 1972-3 (USS O'Callahan).

I was on the USS Collett (DD-730) from mid-1966 until end of December 1969 (RM2). Blue was our sister ship in the same squadron. We left Long Beach with Blue Sep 23 1969 and usually were together most of the deployment. This included time with USS Coral Sea Task Group, Gulf of Tonkin-Yankee station plane guard ops and search and rescue. Also usually tied up next to her in Subic, Kaoshung and Sasebo. As such I was probably right next to the USS Blue when much of this video was taken.

@thailandbobby Blue, Collett and DeHaven were squadron mates and went just about everywhere together. Although I didn't get Collett in the shots, she was definitely there with us.
