  • @Prestda: Maybe someone should start teaching heterosexual marriage in the schools; they don't seem to be working too well. I actually think all legal marriage should be abolished--keep it in the churches and synagogues if you must--but in the meantime, absolutely everyone should have the same rights to marry who they want. The only arguments against gay marriage are religious and/or tradition, neither of which should stand in the American justice system.

  • I was trying to be sarcastic, but alternate sexual education is not a bad idea.

Being heterosexual myself, I never had an sexual identity problem growing up, but I can imagine that for a young gay person it could be a very confusing time.

Maybe not as much now, but back in the 60s "homo" was used as a derogatory term.

Kids probably haven't changed all that much and probably give gays a hard time.

That is another reason to teach alternate sexual preferences early.

  • votes shudn't be taken on human rights coz a majority of people are bigoted... the delhi high court verdict on june 22nd, 2009 on homosexuality - this is a human rights issue and just because 70% of the people think it is wrong doesn't make them right... we must apply logic and reasoning on such issues and not the uninformed and often prejudiced views of the majority...

  • my sis and i too think marriage is an irritance... infact, it has been stated that the greatest hurdle of emancipation of women in india is marriage[and marriage of course goes back to religion]... and what prestda1 said was true... with congress full of creationist, homophobic buttheads, there is no way u can get that bill discussed leave alone passed...

  • I don't understand your comment

  • Have fun trying to push that through the legislature

  • Once Apartheid is eliminated everywhere, we will have to work on eliminating "class."

Those who are above the law, like George Bush and his gang.

  • How about teaching homo-sexual education in elementary schools? Sound ludicrous?

It could have a drastic impact on over-population.

    BTW: I am heterosexual.

  • I agree that all legal marriage should be abolished.
