I've been considering buying a lever action for a while now and this is the top of the list. My dad got rid of the old 30-06 we had. I have a bolt action 30-06 winchester and thought that this would be a good companion rifle (in 308).

@doomsd46 That's what happened to youtube when google bought it. "Related Videos" and "More From This User" dissapeared
-
that cheapie scope is too big and ruins the rifles lines.

Why is there a breast feeding video in the suggestion bar?

@SBPStudio 30-06 usually has a bit more kick due to heavier bullets with heavier powder loads. Unless you're shooting past 150 yards, forget about 30-06 and stick with a .308. Up until 150 yards, their ballistics and energy are just about equal. And if you're shooting past 150 yards, you might want to consider something hotter than a 30-06 anyway.

@drumz4lifekse It definitely kicks because of its very light weight, but mine came from the factory with a very effective recoil pad installed (.308). The main thing about it is that it is LOUD due to its short barrel. Hearing protection is a must. Other than that, sweetest rifle I've ever used. Amazingly accurate for a lever gun; more or less like a bolt action.

i have one and its awesome i can open sight a can from 200 yards away

I have a BLR 81 in .308 as well....easily my favorite of my big bore rifles, and I've got a few. ;) Comfy to shoot, shoulders like butter, and shoots half-moa with homeloads. Anyone considering one, it is an amazing rifle.

If it wasn't for the horrible trigger, I would class it as the best hunting rifle ever. Compact, fast and a very strong action (for these nasty reloads) :-)

@SBPStudio both have exactly the same, depending on the loading.
ive shot my dads 30-06 and i thought about getting a BLR in that cal. it looks light do you think it will kick more?

More than you dad's 30-06? I dunno. More than this .308? Absolutely. But not by much.

does it bite your face much? I mean because of the pretty big gap between the comb and the barrel- looks like it might be quite an experience to shoot... always got a sweet spot for lever guns....
