@jetshull Even more important he was relentless and loyal to players who either weren't pugilists or like The Roadrunner and Le Gros Bill, were too important to take penalties retaliating. The ultimate policeman.

@mcleanartists my point exactly, actually i saw fergie in person at a racetrack, from a distance he smiled and proceeded to gnaw on his stogie, man he was a giant.
-
@jetshull Fergie would have killed him.

funny how the guy who passed it from around the net didnt get a head shot just after he passed it, like they do today.
-
RIP John Bowie Ferguson.

@Scoclamor : Yes, I do remember that! He was accused earlier in his career of not having a big enough heart, because he didn't score dramatic winning and OT goals, like the Rocket. Beliveau's last three seasons were definitely not his best, suffering deep physical and mental fatigue at the end of each. but the Habbies still managed to win two of three possible cups.

@Merti63 They sure made the finals (and won it) the next year!
-
@toonguy85 THAT was The Gross Bill's first ever overtime goal, believe it or not!
Here's the call from Gallivan: He's being watched, he flips it to Awrey. Off the boards Provost stopped it. Provost working it in for Montreal over to Believeau...he SCORES! Beliveau!
Irvin: And the Montreal Canadians have won it on Jean Beliveau's goal, and Jean Beliveau, believe it or not has never scored an overtime goal until this very moment!

Old time hockey! I miss it.

Hey Cuff1957, How many cups did Park win??
Boston Bruins didn't make the finals in 1969. They lost to Montreal in six in the semifinals. So it should be game one of the semifinals.
