VICTORIA LEE, OBOE - The first of two orchestral excerpts as part of my submission for the YouTube Symphony Orchestra. This is the opening solo from the first movement (Prelude) of Ravel's "Le Tombeau de Couperin".
You played this very well, congratulations. The next time you record this though, I would suggest playing it in another room or get another recording device, it made the beginning sound very heavy. Very lovely though, great job.
@ItssAllAboutTheMusic the reed should stay all the way in the reciever of the oboe at all times. If there is a problem with tuning, it's because the reed needs a shave, you're mouth isn't open or closed enough, or even maybe you're lips aren't at the right place on the oboe. I've studied oboe for many years and have been making reeds for a very long time. I don't know everything, but I do know that if an oboe is out of tune, it's the reed, embesure, or adjustment of the screws, maybe a leak.
@angela1894 Ummm....no. I'm actually not. Or perhaps I am, which wouldn't explain why I could hear the piece, but might explain why you don't agree with me. Hmm... I'm finding hard to be witty or humerous. well in any case. I still stand by my statement that she is a little flat, I do also, however, stand by my statement that she is an amazing player and did a very wonderful job in this piece. I'm thinking all she had to do was pull the reed out of her mouth a bit, but either way, its wonderful
She nailed it!!
