@RCTIMP2 If you read the Bible as much as you read the BOM then you would know that eleven of the tribes recieved land as their inheritance, the Levites recieved overseership of the Law of Moses or basically the Law of Yahweh (Spirit). Before 1978 God in the Mormon church was by definition a racist because he did not (which is really your church presidents) allow blacks to fully participate in the endowment ceremony, baptisms for dead, etc. YOU CANNOT DENY THIS! THEY DIDNT ACCEPT BLACKS AT FIRST

YOU SHOULD DO A LITTLE RESEARCH ON EVERY MAJOR RELIGION IN THE WORLD AND YOU WOULD FIND OUT THAT BLACKS WERE NOT EVEN ALLOWED TO SIT WITH WHITE PEOPLE TELL THE END OF THE 50'S EARLY 60'S!!!!!

THAT'S WHY BLACKS CREATED THERE OWN RELIGIONS (ALL BLACKS CHURCHES)

@RCTIMP2 because THE BIBLE say's that eleven of the tribes inherited LAND as the promise, but the LEVITES INHERITED YAHWEH (priesthood) as their INHERITANCE! HOW MANY MISSIONS WERE IN MAJOR BLACK POPULATION CENTERS before the reversal? NONE! If you pray and ask God if the Bible was true, maybe you will know more about your church history!

If the Church was racist why would they have missionaries in Africa, Haiti, Jamaica, etc and why would over a couple million blacks be memebers of the Church? You really need to get your facts stright before you write somehting down.

Now I have a question for you, why could only the Levites and sons of Levites hold the Levitical Priesthood in the Bible? (There is a time for everything)

@JohnRhysMusician OFFICIAL DECLARATION PART II is of the Standard Works, which is the scriptural foundation of your doctrine. One thing you need to consider is that why did something like this exist in the first place? No declaration is needed when someone wishes to serve the Savior. If the policy exist for any reason at all it shows that it was false. In the NT, the gospel was to be preached to the Samaritans after the Jews rejected the Gospel.

@JohnRhysMusician AS A FORMER MEMBER OF THE CHURCH I can assure you that there was. Before I had joined the church I never would have thought that "God's Restored Church" was racist towards blacks. While Mormons can't claim to have any more negative feelings about blacks than and other Christian institutions they are not any different either! As the Catholic Popes suggested Africans were outside the grace of God, LDS Presidents claim the same thing except they have false doctrine to support it!

@1polymath As a member of the church I assure you that nowhere in our scriptures will you find the priesthood ban. The revelation ending the practice is in our scriptures to make sure that the practice is never practiced again. Spencer Kimball wanted to make sure everyone in the world knew the true values of our church.

It was a practice and doctrine. Thats why at the end of every D+C or triple combination in their standard of works they have Spencer Kimbell showing that he had a revelation to give the so called priesthood to "all worthy males" or in other words blacks since they were the only ppl denied full membership in the church endowments and ordinances.
