Abolitionist doesn't mean you love blacks, so you know. Elijah Abel was one man. I believe that everyone is judging Mormonism as a whole rather than on just one man.

To get into the highest tier of heaven one must enter the temple. To enter the temple one must pay tithe and maintain the rules for entry and until 78 one of those rules was not being black.

The priesthood ban was not doctrine it was a practice. Mormons are not proud of it. Brigham Young brought many racist traditions from his baptist faith into the church. The church is very good.
