Can't be dissapointed about that since it's a 20 year old car which has done 350.000KM allready without any revision on the engine, all bearings and gaskets are still original. Still, next time I won't do this with a filled up autogas-tank, a shitload of crap in the boot and at a time when there isn't that much traffic on the German Autobahn.

  • - Forgot to say, that adjustment of cam belt is most important on this engine. I got +25hp's and loads of torque by tightening the rear pulley more than the front one. Always thought something was missing - proved by a rolling road session, where engine power was still climbing at 7133rpm when it cut off. Loosening the front pulley letting it back a little and tightening the rear made the engine roll off at about 7050 rpm. Power was up from 153hp at 7133 to 179,8 at 7050. Just a kind advice :)

    sounds very good, At the moment I have the standard cams mounted in my cilinderhead, but I can purchase a set with adjustable sprockets. Maybe I'll do that since I'm going to have to change the timingbelt anyway soon because my cam-oil seals are worn out and leaking at the moment. On the other hand, when I'm going to enhance the engine performance I'd probably should do the rest of my engine as well considering it mileage at the moment ;) But I'll keep your tip in mind for sure!

  • Leuk filmpje, bij 200 nog even doorschakelen :-) . Stukje duitsland wil ik toch nog eens proberen met de 8 kleppert.

  • hahaha, ja dat is wel iets waar ik nog altijd blij mee ben, schakelen met 200+ :P

    Anders kom je toch gewoon nog een keer je koppeling vervangen hier, gaan we dan meteen ff naar Duitsland! :D

  • As long as you go with standard cams, theres no need for adjustable sprockets. Just make sure you tighten the rear pulley more than the front one, in order to keep cam timing right for the powerband within the range up to 7200rpm. The head has only had the mismatches polished and enlarged the ports by app. 1mm both in and outlet. Worst thing was the exhaust manifold, which had lots of excess welding spots needed to be removed for a clean flow.

  • De koppeling moet nog minstens 200k mee, dus dat zal geen reden worden om die kant op te komen ;-)
