Boeing yesterday launched an upgraded version of its popular 737 plane powered by a more fuel-efficient engine, citing strong demand from airlines.

Boeing said the new line, dubbed the 737 MAX, will use CFM International's LEAP-1B engines optimized for the single-aisle 737, the world's best-selling commercial aircraft.

Boeing's board of directors has approved the new line based on order commitments for 496 airplanes from five airlines and "a strong business case," the company said in a statement.

  • @TheSPARTANkp97 No, this year there has been over 1100 A32-/A32NEO orders when not even close 1000 737 orders including 737MAX. Yes, in history 737 has been most succesfull in history, but today A32- series is selling better and is still more advanced than B737 although most of its systems are still like they were back in end of 80´s when it first flew. Most of airplanes flying today are 737´s and A32-´s.

  • @Pvjinflight Where did you get your facts? Boeing 737 has been the most succesful jetliner in aviation history the facts you stated are completly reversed 737 orders have been made than airbus has made in this and last year. Nuff Said.

  • The Airbus is better as it has a larger width(approx. 6" inches wider than the 737), giving each seat nearly 1" inch greater width across the row. The 737 was built in the '60's at a time when Americans were alot lighter and not as wide.

  • @LottoWinner999 Boeing has only 500 orders for 737MAX fatass. Airbus has sold more plane this and last year.

  • @Pvjinflight BTW Boeing has over 800 of the orders the 737-MAX the are different versions such as the 737-600/-700/-800/-900 models 737-900ER. Beoing is going to build a new plant just for the 737-MAX. You should know The Next-Generation 737 models build on the strengths that made the 737 the world's most successful commercial airliner, while incorporating improvements and value-added technology designed for the 21st century. Check the Boeing site all Airbus order cannot match the sales of 737.

  • @LottoWinner999 They dont have 2000 737MAX orders.

  • @Pvjinflight Yes if you check the Boeing site they still have over 2000 orders on the Books! Plus the Renton Boeing plant builds 50 Boeing 737 month!

  • @LottoWinner999 So what, most of those 6000 are already retired. Airbus has sold over 1000 A320NEO.

  • @Pvjinflight The 737 family has orders for more than 6000 airplanes, which is more airplanes than The Boeing Company's competitor Airbus has won for its entire product line since it began. The 737 a short-to-medium-range airplane - is based onBoeing philosophy of delivering added value to airlines with reliability, simplicity and reduced operating and maintenance costs. In the last 3 month Boing has sold 310 B-737-800s & 496 737-MAXs which means Boeing is stalking Airbus with its new 737-MAX.

  • @Pvjinflight LottoWinner seems to me the only smart one trolling on this vid. Lets get the facts strait. Since 1988 (the year the A320 family was introduced) there have been a total of 4,820 built. Since 1988 (for comparison) the Boeing 737 family has sold a total of 5,413 aircraft. Every aircraft manufacturer has its ups and downs. Planes crash, its inevitable. if you look at Airbus's history basically every plane is meant to compete with a Boeing. Its just the facts. have a nice day fagot.
