  • I forgive and move on even though the other person doesn't

  • I recieved a text message today from my Jewish ex-husband that reads: "pray to your Gd tonight that I will forgive you which I will never ever happen in this life or the next"...

he posts bible scriptures on his facebook continuoulsy, I've forgiven him for all he did to me, I continue to pray for him today and always...

  • @TLCTugger the guide to the perplexed was not written for everyone. it was written to his top student who asked him a question, and Maimonides' response was the guide to the perplexed.

  • i think that there are three types of forgiveness the highest massive murder/genocide/slavery second murder rape child molestation three words that hurt you can forgive words that hurt but i don't think that you can forgive the first two with out some form of justice taking place.

  • Maimonides? Greatest sage?

He said circumcision was intended to reduce a man's sense of his genitals and eliminate a source of distraction. He also said woman who beds an intact man will never settle for a cut man again. Smart guy.

(see Guide of the Perplexed, translated by Translated by Shlomo Pines in 1963)

  • I disagree with the Rabbi's view concerning the irresponsibility of forgiveness while the evil is ongoing. In my opinion, this attitude is a conditional that only serves to perpetuate and prolong violence. This also implies that evil has some desire or need for our forgiveness and would be willing to cease to exist in order to obtain it. Forgiveness is most true and powerful when issued in the full presence and strength of evil.

  • This is very helpful and genuine. Thank you.

  • The Lord's Prayer as Jesus taught...Matthew 6:12-15

"Our Father...forgive us our sins, as we have forgiven those who sin against us... For if you forgive other people when they sin against you, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. But if you do not forgive others their sins, your Father will not forgive your sins. "

How different the world would be if we all practiced this?

  • Wish the jews who are terrorizing israel right now would follow their own teachings

  • Wonderful video and some very inspiring words from Rabbi Sacks. All of us as individuals can and should strive to bring forgiveness into our lives. Today I saw the film Invictus, and the spirit of forgiveness exhibited by Nelson Mandela saved an entire nation. Forgiveness; powerful and always relevant.
