Ask Dr. Mona: Do I have Pancreatitis?

Well Im pretty sure I have hurt my pancreatitis from drinking; Ill make that clear from the start. I should start by saying Im only 24 with no family history of pancreatitis. I had a heavy weekend of drinking last weekend because of some friends parties which led me to drink 2 days in a row and I consumed quite a bit. On the 3rd day I was pretty hungover and lay around all day. That evening I walked to the shop across the road but could hardly [more]make it because of a stabbing pain around were my pancreas is located. I came back home and the stabbing pain persisted all night and i got quite worried and read up on the internet about pancreatitis from binge drinking. Anyways, the next morning it was pretty much gone. I've read all sorts of things on the internet like 'that means you can never drink again!'. I'd like advice from someone who has experienced it - does this mean theres a possibility I can't even sit down and have one or two beers?! That sounds pretty extreme to me - obviously Im not planning on drinking that much again or binge drink, but I'd like to think Im still ok to have a beer every now and then!

  • I would only get attacks when I went one a binge, Only after december 21st 2009 when I started hurting like hell for the 3rd time and found myself in an ambalace for the 3rd time Did I say to myself that this is not worth it and I knew that if i did not quit that I was not going to be around for my wife and 8 yo and 9month old daughters. I have not drink since now I feel alot better and have found so many wonderful things and feelings in life that I did not see nor feel when I was drinking.

  • So many people have lost their jobs and their ways of living and I feel so bad for them and yes I am blaming the right wing!

  • Stressers definitely affect the quality of life! I am into politics deeply and the stress of politics deeply affects me because I genuinely care for people!

  • Understand 3 simple principles! The republicans lie to us! The world is suppose to be full of love and the republican party is trying to destroy Barack Obama when he brought back the auto industry and the right wing wants to destroy Anthony Weiner when David Vitter fid have sex with a prostitute!

  • @omarzine100 I went to years without an issue of drinking. I went to Savannah and had three beers and ended up in the ER. I was stunned, but that little bit kick my ass. Not good man. On top of that, I work out, have a strict diet and am mostly healthy. But my pancreas sucks. Don't do it.
