As our nation lowered its flags to half staff on Friday, loved ones and colleagues of law enforcement officers killed in the line of duty during 2008 gathered at the US Capitol for a special ceremony.
At the conclusion of the US Capitol service, leaders of the Fraternal Order of Police, the FOP Auxiliary, Concerns of Police Survivors and the NLEOMF brought the wreath from the Capitol to the Memorial to remain under the watch of honor guards from all over the country for the rest of the evening. At midnight, a lone piper played Amazing Grace as flags were returned to full staff signaling the end of Peace Officers Memorial Day.
One thing we have to remember is that these brave men and women gave their lives while protecting our civilian population on our soil. We must never forget their contribution to our society which resulted in the ultimate sacrifice.
As far as Obama goes or any other President, their term in office is finite. The Officers that serve us are always going to be there to protect and serve us to the best of their ability. I concur that its a slap in the face but in the long run, who cares if he shows.

Pres. Obama never showed, he was too busy giving a tour of the White House to the World Series Champs. Philadelphia Phillies. How Sad. I have lost all respect for the man. Signed: A Suriving Father of a Fallen Officer
