Good observations here concerning the flamenco influence on this classic song .

Thank you so much for this great lesson. I'd love to see you playing this masterpiece on stage, the alchemy way, with the quiet moment @ roughly 6:00, before the storm. I love this song.

Wow im spanish and im a fan of Knopfler however Im dont know too much about flamenco style. I have just watched this video and i felt like " damn i got this incredible techniques just in front of my face for all this time..". It seems that the fusion of different styles/cultures allways brings nice stuff :D

Dude. You have completely changed the way I view fingerstyle electric guitar.
Are there any particular exercises you can recommend for helping one build up a decent rasgueado? Also, are nails an issue? I know that some flamenco guitarists have long fingernails, are they necessary for this particular technique?

what about the pickups??
nice video!
Maybe you can help me.. Im looking for a strat pickup with a very soft and creamy sound, wrongly I bought Texas Special wit appears to me the extreme oposite specially when loaded in a strat with maple fretboard and ash body.
What do you recomend? fender 54, fender 69 or dimarzio area?
