On this episode of The Aimless Cook I am cooking some fresh lake trout over some hot coals out in the back yard. This is a very easy recipe that I learned from Chef John at foodwishes. I wanted to add the extra dimension of smoke to the dish by cooking it like you would on a konro (Japanese grill). The results are magnificent. I hope you try this and enjoy!

  • I really like what you're doing with the incorporation of your wife and kids... and encouraging other people to start cooking. I think it's AWESOME! I am thinking about making some cooking videos, too. You and your wife are a great inspiration. Keep it up!

    BTW, we LOVE your accents!

  • @yokohamaguy75 what accents? lol

  • I absolutely love the flavor of smoked fish on the grill. Great recipe J! I am sure that trout was to die for!

  • @pastryparrot1 Thanks, Mary Ann!

  • looks great! i i caught a trout the other day, it was very yummy

  • yall r so cool; can i come over for dinner? haha

  • @MrJingjong Well, it's not really a dorm, here in Belgium, we have something like 'student houses', but which aren't owned by the university. We have a (rather small) kitchen which we share with 7 people. I've got the following:

-a stove (only two electrical plates )

    -an (small) oven

    -a microwave

    -pots and pans

    -a wok pan

-a steam machine (you can put several layers of vegetables or stuff like that in it and it just steams it right up :P )

  • @CrrackTheSkye I can do that! Thanks for the suggestion. Do you use a microwave or a stove? Are you in a dorm?

  • @MrJingjong No thanks :)

By the way, I was wondering, I'm a student and I cook my own meals. Do you have any ideas for some simple, rather fast (and if possible not too expensive) recipes? Would be awesome :D

  • @CrrackTheSkye Thanks, dude!

  • your skills in video-making are really skyrocketing man :o

awesome video :) Seems really tasty!
