Is this on the Amtrak station platform? Are helpers common even as far west as Latrobe?

No only coal cars going through Latrobe carry coal!

It's probably gravel. Sand is usually in covered hoppers.

Well, whaddya know? A raccon up front! I never did, and still don't like those SD70M's. But I LOVE any train in Latrobe. :)

Well, whaddya know? A raccon up front! I never did, and still don't like those SD70M's. But I LOVE any train in Latrobe. :)
