I made this video to advertise the book On The Beach, written by Nevil Shute. It has no sound or music because I dislike ambient noise and I couldn't find any suitable music. My over-reliance on text can be attributed to having no actors or money to assist in actually filming scenes that tell a story. I prefer to show and not tell, but in this case, it was impossible. I'm not overly fond of this video, but leave comments anyhow so I can improve if I ever do this again.

  • Not bad - some suggestions: "The shortest war in history" at the intro, include the very likely Nuke participants, Pakistan, India, North Korea, and Iran.

Instead of a 15MPH limit on speed (which isn't very fuel efficient), ban private auto use.

Nice use of empty beds for setting the mood.

LOVE the book and the original movie adaptation - some others in the genre you may enjoy: Earth Abides, Down to a Sunless Sea, Alas, Babylon.

  • you suck!

  • Yep. All comments right, apart from the waltzing Matilda. Officially, you didn't read the book, maybe watched the film, def didn't get your facts straight. This sucks an it's an insult. That aside, it's okay.

  • The book was set in 1964. Therefore, why was there a grave marked 2002? Also, there was electricity in the Australia. It seems that you neve really studied On the Beach, or you're trying to project some sort of Obama agenda. in either event, your research is flawed.

  • You need to get your facts straight. In the book, the utilization of brown coal allowed "the juice" to continue to flow. Thus, your assertion that, "(E)lectronics, lamps, televisions...All were made useless by the loss of electricity" leads me to conclude that you never read the book!

    Letter grade: D.

  • Why not use "Waltzing Matilda" for a back drop, if you can find a nice rendition of it. They used it as the main theme running through the score from the 1958 movie. It might work.

  • Your imagination is lower than you budget :)
