Hi Jake, I made a big tortoise for rowing, after seeing this it's getting a sail rig. I spent 40 bucks on plywood, another 40 on glue. Had lumber for chine logs and seating on hand that would have been about another 40. Put 36 bucks into paint, and $75.00 into fiberglass and resin (polyester). Then I spend $76.00 on oarlocks and mounts, bought oars for $60.00 delivered. So around 321 USD for my version which is overbuilt. But it is a dry rowboat that I can car top. YMMV

You made a great job. Space is a problem, that we have in Germany almost at all. watch some of my Boatbuilding video sites. I built a comparable boat. Hobbtimist Teil 1 - 4. A Hobbtimist is a Boatsname, made from the word Hobby and Optimist. Teil 1 ist the German word for Part 1. It nice to see other guys making there own "Yawl". Keep on Sailing Doc

Make it under $120, if you buy the wood at the right time. The paint and sail cost, but it's not a arm and leg type of cost.

Puddle ducks can be made with as little as two sheets of plywood and a few 2x4s to use for stringers. I've seen people make masts and spars from fencing pipes, and a google search could turn up a "how-to" article or two on sailmaking using poly-tarps. I'm gonna guess that a boat like this one could be made for well under $300 if you were McGuyver enough -_^
