dont buy this phone it is a really bad phone it's the vaule of the phone is like 20 25 dollars thats why they stop selling the phones and i notice that there all locked on display at alltel for a reason... I WARN ALL ALTELL CUSTOMERS DONT BUY ANY PHONE FROM ALLTEL IF THEY'RE LOCKED. HEED MY WORDS ''TRY IT B4 U BUY IT''

I hate this phone I already done been through 5 of them and Im still having the same problem with it....it blanks out for no reason.....and I dont have water damage.....so I dont know! I advice anyone not to get this phone

No; you only have to unlock it when you want to read a text message when the phone is closed, or do any activity like use the camera when the phone is closed. It takes a few seconds, but gets annoying after a while, because to unlock it, you have to hold down a button for 2-3 seconds.

i was thinking about getting this phone. do you have to unlock it EVERY time you open it?
even for a text.

Okayy I got this phone and i love it! the buttons are a lot better than i thought they were going to be. yeah its big but its nice. But the only thing is you have to unlock the keypad all the time but i love it! =D

Yea i got it i cant watch axcess tv for some reason it wont let me something with digital but i do get on youtube all the time if you get good service i dont but i stream video really easy on youtube the only problem picture quality and sound arnt really that good

Yeah, unlocking it sucks, because it takes a few seconds, which is pointless. It's quicker to just open the phone to read a text message...
