  • I have 2000 outback i want to install performance muffler. Which one gona fit? And how to install?

  • There's really very few performance mufflers that fit nicely (mine doesn't...) but I know that Hogzaust makes one and I think some general application mufflers would work well too. If you are willing to have a slightly odd looking muffler sticking out of the back then you could put just about any muffler on. I have 3 inch pipes from my downpipe back so I have a bigger muffler. If you have stock pipes, yours will be smaller. Installing can be done for 20 bucks or so at a local exhaust shop.

  • how much all together did you spend on this setup? this sound is perrrfect

  • Around 1500... I think the DP was around 600-700, the muff was about 200, and I don't remember the exact amount for labor and materials at the shop for the mandrel bending and all that. All in all it really wasn't too bad. And thanks, I think the sound is perfect too! She purrs... then roars!

  • is this just the HKS on the stock system?

  • nope. I have a COBB downpipe and custom mandrel bent 3" exhaust that is finished with the HKS carbon-ti muffler.

  • you could get a smaller can from HKS, have a custom exhaust made and ask the shop what muffler/s they would recommend, or try hogzaust... I think they make an exhaust system that replaces the factory system and still sounds pretty good. For what it's worth, I still take my XT offroad and I haven't hit it yet. I just dinged it on a parking curb once while I was backing up... stupid tall parking curb.

  • i looove the sound but i also like the clearance i just barely have with it already...lol i want something with the sound just not so bulky for my XT. any ideas?

  • That makes sense. I actually thought about getting the equal length headers to put on but when I watched some videos of subi's that had them, I was not into it... I love the sound my car makes, I ride with the windows down as much as possible and drive through alleys as often as I can!

  • the UEL's stands for Un Equal Length headers!
