You could if you had a good mine but all the productive mines are privately owned. The best tourmaline (imo) in the U.S. is from Pala & Ramona areas in San Diego county. In the early 1900's miners would easily haul out 500 lbs a day of pink tourmaline(Frederick James Rynerson). No more, but you can find schorl in Cleveland National forest.
yea i went to pala no offence but i got more but smaller specimens.you can also find aquamarine at pala...a nice place to go fore beginners,and also they have a small trilliant cut pink tourmaline for like
