  • Why did Bird have to die so young?

  • @TheDarkLordofSaxes because he liked drugs :)

  • @TheDarkLordofSaxes cause he was genius.

  • @clh2192 I wish that were the case, but Trane, Red Garland, and Bill Evans all had notorious heroin problems, though Trane got the better of his.

  • @TheDarkLordofSaxes Rumor has it that drugs are bad for you-lol. For all the musical good he did, he was the pied piper of heroin in the Black community. Jazz musicians were like athletes and Parker was Jordan. Perhaps his death was really a sacrifice to atone for his sins. Jazz guys got clean after that. Those who could. Notice herron use didn't plague R&B, Soul, funk, dance, house, hip-hop...etc going forward. For the white rock guys? Not so much. Race matters I guess.

  • who else is on this recording other Bird and Dizzy?

  • Between the Bird and Claude Debussy I would have to agree that everything's been everything's been said that needs to be said. All you musicians can go home now. The gig's over.

  • Excelent!!!!!

  • @michalskij Haha, no man, he liked the drink :) Bird drank himself to death. The heroin surprisingly didn't kill him.

  • BIRD & DIZ/Confirmation

  • This performance was recorded at Carnegie Hall in September 1947 and features John Lewis, Al McKibbon and Joe Harris along with Dizzy and Bird. It's not from Chicago or 1950.

  • @TheDarkLordofSaxes Drugs son. They do it every time.
