Good points. I was thinking EXACTLY the same thing just recently. The LDS Church criticize the FLDS as "apostate" and "Non-Mormon" when, in actual fact, the truth of the matter is that they are probably way closer to original Mormonism than the LDS Mormons are!

Yes your correct. I just didn't want to present the idea that the current corruption with the current FLDS be confused with the original theology of Joseph Smith. Warren Jeffs particularly had to make serious changes so that he could assume control of the group. Because of these changes, it always a pretty wicked man to assume a respectable position over good people and corrupt them and their religion. Of course, like the mormon church, they asked for it.

I'm not an expert on Mormon theology. All I know is when the Mormons changed the FLDS opted to not change. Joseph Smith and company were polygamists and the FLDS believed they were being true to what they originally believed about that doctrine. Thus they are "fundamentalists."

Also, they beleive in the Manifesto by Wilford Woodruff. If they would do their research, they would learn it was a written up document by a group of guys (can't remember their names right now). Nor a revelation from Jesus to Wilford Woodruff like they think it was. The Church voted on it and sustained it, so the LDS church gave it up. They could vote on and sustain to give up 'loving your neighbor' too. Doesn't make it right.

imikewillrockyou: They won't disown their own founder because they feel it's not required anymore. They justify this because it was also taken from the Nephites. I guess they miss the part where God was so disgusted with the way they were living it, that he told the Nephites they weren't worthy to live like that anymore (didn't know how to treat women I guess). I guess if the LDS church is in the same boat as that, they should've given it up.

I'm sorry, they are NOT following the original mormon doctrine to a T. Polygamy is only one aspect of it. They are a polygamist group, and closer than the mormon church, but that isn't saying much.

The LDS Church is doing damage control by disowning these people. In reality the FLDS are following the original LDS doctrine to the T. The LDS Church doesn't like the image problem of where they came from it would appear. Why don't they disown their own founder for living exactly this way I wonder?
I'm a member of the LDS church and I have to agree with you. The original church did not want anything to do with the government but what did they do? they surrendered and embeded themselves in the Government eventually after wilford woodruff. I think I would just rather consider myself a person who believes in the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I think the only religion we should have is in our hearts.

Have you been born again trough faith in Jesus? If you die tonight - would you live with God?

Do you mean baptized? If I die tonight I don't believe I would live with god right away because I believe I would be jugde first. depending on my judgement day we'll see.

I mean being born again - not baptism - thats just the outside proclamation of what Jesus has done for someone inside.. created a new person in someone... My heart breaks when you say you dont know if you would live with God - I hope you come to know Jesus - and that He gives you a new life - so that you might know that you have eternal life
