Suzanne Hobson - Dark Cabaret cover of No Rain by Blind Melon

I was born the day Judy Garland died. Poor Judy, by the end, she was more like the Witch from the West, than the gingham clad Dorothy Gale...no matter how many times she clicked those heels, she could never return to Oz. Classically trained, I'm the love child of a Central European cellar dweller and a nineteen twenties good time girl. Growing up surrounded by tuneless violins, old 78's and broken down pianos, I learned from a young age that the world is not a pretty place. My only escape from this melancholic Arcadia was my little portable record player and toy piano. No longer pretty in pink, I've now found solace in my piano, creating a spellbinding atmosphere with deeply wrought covers of the familiar and the not so familiar, played coquettishly in a Dark Cabaret style. Scattered throughout this homage to lost love are my own songs: comical, twisted...mesmerising. My music is a perfect fit for cafes, clubs, dives, basements and pubs,and just the theme for late night dining, slashing your wrists, breaking-up with a not-so-loved one or sweet sunny Sunday afternoon drinks!
