Please Think of the 12,700 British troops will this year spend Christmas abroad on active service, facing danger in Iraq and a resurgent Taliban in Afghanistan, while hundreds more man bases in Cyprus and on the Falklands Islands.

I'm an old soldier and spent many Christmases away from home. I wish all lasses and lads away from home my very best wishes at all times. Stay safe and come back to the ones who love you soon. You are doing a great job and I thank you.
