Tryangle Young unsung heroes from all across Worcestershire have had their efforts and achievements recognised in this year's County Council Tryangle Awards.

A total of 19 individual young people, aged between 12 and 19, and two young person's groups, have had their hard work rewarded in seven different categories ranging from Achievements in Music to Bravery.

The successful 'tryers' and their families have all been invited to receive their awards - organised by the County Council's Youth Support and now in their fifth year - at a special ceremony at County Hall on March 11.

A selection panel met last month with the difficult task of picking out this year's award winners from the 108 nominees put forward from all across Worcestershire.

The Tryangle Categories for 2010 are:

Achievement in Sports or Outdoor Activities;
Personal Achievement in Music;
Personal Achievement in the Arts;
Good Friends and Carers;
Bravery;
Personal Development;
Citizenship and Environment.

Cllr Liz Eyre, County Council Cabinet Member for Children and Young People (aged 12-19 years), said: "The Tryangle Awards are a great way to celebrate the fantastic contributions that young people make to their communities and their achievements. Everyone receiving awards, and all those nominated, deserve high praise because of the exceptional efforts they've shown.

"I'm really looking forward to meeting the successful 'tryers' at the awards ceremony later this month and hearing their inspirational stories at first hand. I'm sure it will be a memorable occasion."

Cllr Eyre will join County Council Chairman, Cllr John Cairns, Gail Quinton, The County Council's Director for Children's Services, Chief Supt Jane Horwood, of West Mercia Police, Malik Fayaz, Worcestershire Council for Racial Equality, Michael Hunter, Worcestershire Council for Voluntary Youth Servicesand Steve Brewster, from the county's Sports Partnership, to give out the Tryangle Award certificates at the special ceremony.
