The snows arrived & made the whole garden, plus the railway look stunning, but after the snows had gone another problem showed itself to us. The foundations on the first of the tunnels walls were no where near deep enough & it fell over. 140 concrete blocks still held together, but on their side. We had to remove all of them, clean them off, store them and they dig out the correct size for the tunnel. We then layed 8 inches of concrete on the floor & let it set hard. In the meantime we decided to switch our attentions away from the mud & disappointment of our first failure to building our level crossing. This gave us access to our ballast bins, whilst at the same time added another feature to the railway. Pleased with our build we went back to the tunnel and for the next 4 months built both sides together. In total 330 blocks were used. Finally we stsrted to put the roof on, using old rail sleepers. These was then covered with a plastic sheet. The tunnel was finished. Finally i would like to thank all of the people whom emailed you tube & our own web site for their interest & comments on our railway. Next step on the Spruce Canyon Railway is the new rolling stock & we start to put a run round in. For more info about us please log onto www.sprucestudios.com
