I'm Looking Forward to Lent - now with subtitles!

The Holiday season has ended, so Lent can't be far behind... Here's our attempt to fill the need for festive songs for the Lenten season. (We're wearing hoodies because it's freezing at Karl's house.)

I'm looking forward to Lent.
That's when I give up all my vices!
No more dessert; no more champagne.
I'll wear a hair shirt and smell like dogs in the rain!
I'm looking forward to Lent!
Maybe this year I'll be canonized...
No more heaping plate -- no more sleeping late --
I'm looking forward to Lent!

I'm Looking forward to Lent.
In fact, the whole Lenten season really thrills me!
I love the guy in church who puts the ashes on your head,
And the happy ending (when it turns out Christ's not really dead!).
I'm Looking Forward to Lent!
(You know, my burlap wardrobe simply looks divine...)
Some look on it with dread, but I have always said,
That I'm Looking Forward to Lent!

Now I, myself, am not a Catholic --
I was raised as an agnostic --
And I learnt of Lent from research that I did for an acrostic,
But even I -- without religion, and without the Pope's direction --
Believe suffering a smidgen just might buy Divine Protection...

That's why I'm Looking Forward to Lent!
To nearly six weeks of penitential frenzy!
I'll go to church and say confession every single day,
And if by chance I haven't sinned, I'll drop by anyway, because
I'm Looking Forward to Lent!
I'm sorry that's it's only 40 days...
I'll consider it a dud if I don't sweat a little blood,
I'm Looking forward to Lent!
(Bring on those wafers!)
