Do you know anyone who's 5 years out or more with weight loss surgery? What are their experiences?

  • I was just talking to my husband about this. I told him that I worry about what's gonna happen in 5, 10, 15 yrs. BUT I know for me I "HAD" to have this surgery. I needed this tool to help me or I'd have just kept growing and growing. And I had too many health problems To not get it done. I'll keep checking back here to see what people are saying. Thanks ~ Nicol

  • Thanks ShrinkinPhotographer. It's good to know I'm not the only one with these concerns. Check back for an update soon!

  • Hello! you might check out meltingmamamelted on here if you haven't already. She's awesome and she's 5 years out if I remember correctly.

  • Thanks youwantgeeek. She's one of the first ones that got me asking these questions. I'll be posting an update video on where I am with this issue soon. Stay tuned. Thanks for watching!

  • That is a great question! I hope you get some good responses, I'd like to know as well. I have a friend here in town that had the bypass 7 years ago and she has problems with her blood sugar dropping. She hardly eats anything though. I haven't talked with her in quite some time, but will give her a call and "interview" her.

  • Thanks IWILLMETAMORPHISOON. Please let me know what you hear from her.

  • MissJanieHere--Yes, I've definitely checked her out. She seems to be one of the success stories we all hope to be. I just haven't seen enough similar stories. I'll be posting another vid soon to share where I am with this issue. Your video helped me greatly to come to terms with what I want to do. Thank you so much for posting!

  • Have you gone to MissKrispy's channel? She has been out for about 6 years or so and seems to be doing good. One of my supervisors had the surgery about 3-4 years ago and seems to be doing really good (without supplementation, at that)...so I think every person's body is so unique that effects may be case by case? I know there is alot of study going on about this, but I realized that I might be trading one thing for another. It's a good question, but only you know you. jane

  • Hello there,

  • I am only 6 1/2 wks out so I can't answer your questions BUT many of the long term complications have to do with not following the vitamin regime and eating plan. Many problems can be alleviated by close follow-up and routine blood work. Good luck!

    Donna:)

P.S. check out meltingmommamelted. She has had blood sugar issues and seizures but I am not sure the seizures are related to gbs or just something she would have acquired.

  • 08theyearofme--yes, she's really only 1 of about 3 people I've seen on youtube that is that many years out. She's been a great inspiration to me. Thanks for the tip.
