Liquid Chlorine immersed into hot oil bath (ca 160C) and became supercritical. After cooling down it condensing back into liquid.
Critical temperature of the Chlorine - 143.8°C, critical pressure - 76.0 atm
Diameter of the ampule - 4 mm

  • this is soo cool!!! ...why are you named like the periodic table videos? are you "related"?

  • @Defonthana

No, I am not related with the periodicvideos. I am running my own project periodictable.ru

  • How was the ampoule sealed in the first place?

  • By cooling down in the liquid nitrogen and sealing on the oxygen torch.

  • this is the inflation of the universe.

  • @DJFamou5 This is thick walled quartz capillary. OD 4 mm ID 2 mm.

  • @wwwperiodictableru Nice! what is the type of that glass?

  • As a superheated liquid is heated in a sealed container, pressure from the gas above increases until the liquid and gas states merge into a new state as a supercritical fluid which appears more like a gas. But I cannot imagine the destruction if this glass container burst in the hot oil.

  • cool stuff, thanks for upping

  • Why is there a purple/brown flash? Is the energy involved with the state change cause some kind of electronic transistion state?
