Gopple 2009 Game of the Week 2

Hello there sports fans, and welcome to the second weekend of Gopple. Im Paul Van Shammalamadingdong and this is the Game of the Week pre-game show. Opening weekend didnt see to many good battles with four of the five games having an average 24-point margin of victory. The only real matchup was Holmes taking down the Steel Curtain by one point. Hopefully week two will feature some competitive games.

This week featured game pits two former co-owners, Mike Becker and Chris McConney of former Team Death Blow against one another. It was a shock to the league that a week before the draft, news broke that Death Blow was ending its run together after four seasons. Some say it was because Becker stopped smoking others say its because hes about to get married. Whatever the case might have been, this is an important year for their new teams, to show who was the brains behind their team.

In the four years before Chris McConney joined Mike Beckers Gopple team, he had a winning percentage of .298 (17-40). In the four years while these two were teammates, they had a winning percentage of .544 (31-23-3), while going to two Gopple Super Bowls, and winning one.

Becker made the switch to join Brain Babik and form their new franchise, Steagles, while McConney joined up with his fellow, (inhabitable) loft mate Curtis Burns to form the Drunken Irishmen.

I got a chance to sit down with these team owners to discuss the match-up of two 1-0 teams.

Paul: Winston, what have you done this week to prepare for your game?
Winston: I went to see this movie about a bus that had to speed around a city, keeping its speed over fifty and if its speed dropped, it would explode! I think it was called ... "The Bus That Couldnt Slow Down."

Becker: How can someone with glasses so thick be so stupid? Im going to kill you this week!
Winston: How could you?! Haven't you learned anything from that guy who gives those sermons at church? Captain Whatshisname? We live in a society of laws! Why do you think we took in all those Police Academy movies? For fun? Well, I didn't hear anybody laughing, did you? Except at that guy who made sound effects. Beep, boop boop ha ha ha. Where was I? Oh yeah! Stay out of my booze.

Paul: Curtis, your team is favored this week by 13, but your coaching rating is dead last in the league since you left 32 points on the bench with the Eagles Defense.
Curtis: Facts are meaningless. You could use facts to prove anything that's even remotely true!
Paul: Curtis, how are you going to weasel around those facts?
Curtis: Weaseling out of things is important to learn. It's what separates us from the animals ... except the weasel.
Paul: O.K. Becker, what do you think of Winston and Curtis team this year?
Becker: Winston is a cancer on this fair league! He is the cancer and I am the ... uh ... what cures cancer?

Winston: Alright mister... You want trouble you're going to get trouble.
Becker: Oh I want trouble all right!
Winston: Then you're going to get trouble!
Becker: No you're gonna get trouble!
Winston: Well that's good, because I want trouble!
Becker: Then we're agreed there'll be trouble!
Winston: Oh yeah lots of trouble!
Becker: Trouble it is.
Winston: For you!
Becker: For m.... D'oh!
