  • @moreleftrudder Telling me that shifting 300 tonnes of cars and craft for 40 mins and using 2500kg of fuel is uneconomical? Impractical? Yeah right.....

  • I went on it twice when I was little... I can remember it being very very noisy and me being very very sick. Which must have been horrible for the other people on it... my dad loved going on it though!!

  • it was a very sad day when these hovercrafts were taken out of service i can still remember hoverlloyd and seaspeed running the hovercraft untill they merged and become hoverspeed it was an even sadder day when hoverspeed closed

  • @SaberTanker22 apparently they suck fuel like crazy

  • was a brilliant way to cross the channel miss it so much

  • @RydeHover Since my previous comment (2 Years Ago!) I have been to the Hover museum on one of its open days, and had the chance to take a look around the SRN4 including the cockpit, which was an awesome experience since I never got to ride in one across the channel.

I also managed to get myself a ride in the SRN6, as I know the guy who was piloting it at that particular event! Well worth the visit.

  • @HovKid the two SR.N.4 craft are not owned by the Hovercraft Museum but are in private ownership and he allows one craft to be open to the public when the Museum have Open Days but not always!

  • That was probally the coolest carferry ive ever seen in action!! - thanks for showing this clip, it was awesome.

  • i remember this and the Concorde being taken out of service people don't see the benefit in good clean and fast and safe technology.
