Northern Elephant Seal - Turn volume down before watching video: Wind and Waves are loud. Males can weigh up to 6,000 lbs and be 16 feet in length. Females weigh in the range of 2,000 lbs and are much smaller in length. They can be found along the coast of California and Mexico. This video was taken on Drakes Beach in Pt. Reyes National Seashore, California, United States. There are several rookeries in California where these seals can easily be found: Cambria (near Hearst Castle), Ano Nuevo State Park (between Half Moon Bay and Santa Cruz), and Pt. Reyes (near San Francisco). All locations are located on or near HWY 1. 1/17/11
