@sarahRA86 Because of the memories. Harry and Dumbledore spent a entire year watching Voldemort's past through memories, that's how they found out the truth about Horrcruxes and where to find them. The books explain everything, the movie left some plot holes.

at 1:19 with what dumbledore said harry would find out that he was a horcrux... the movie really sucked! the book was great!

I think the reason Harry does that thing with his neck because something inside him clicks when he touches a horcrox if you know what I mean.

Harry didn't do that thing with his neck in the second movie (the camber if secrets) because voldamort wasn't back so the horcroxs were kinda sleeping.

@kedavra5 because he needed to know how many there were and if slughorn had told Riddle anything else. After that they had to assume the pivitoal artifacts the memories were horcruxes.

@Thomasveach95 I read books 6-7 but if dumbledore already knew that voldemort already has horcruxes after the chamber of secrets, why does he still need to know about slughorn's memory?
