Replication of a one magnet Bedini motor with a twist. Shortly after I stopped filming the first magnet took off at warp speed and careened around inside the glass jar, breaking it.

  • isnt it such a rush when you finally get it working right?

It seems with 'magnetic gears' if one is spinning too fast the other magnet wont catch on, or will catch at a much lower proportion, thats what it looks like is happening in your video with the top one. I dont think you can get the one on top to stand up though...

  • I got another magnet to stand up and spin for 10 - 15 seconds holding a lid about three feet away and about two feet above the spinner on the coil. It was a pretty shaky thing since it was hand held. Will make a shelf or something to get a stable platform and get a video. The magnetic field reaches way out and I think it is just a matter of finding the right distance.

I agree with the gears having trouble syncing if the speed is too fast.

  • Good job. Glad you got it going. That is an interesting idea you have with the 2nd magnet.
