THE LETTER
The Box Tops (Hit in 1967)
- written by Wayne Carson Thompson

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter

I don't care how much money I gotta spend
Got to get back to baby again
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter

Well, she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn't live without me no more
Listen mister, can't you see I got to get back
To my baby once-a more
Anyway, yeah!

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter

Well, she wrote me a letter
Said she couldn't live without me no more
Listen mister, can't you see I got to get back
To my baby once-a more
Anyway, yeah!

Gimme a ticket for an aeroplane
Ain't got time to take a fast train
Lonely days are gone, I'm a-goin' home
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter
My baby, just-a wrote me a letter

  • hey its me again...i also practised this song with my guitar teacher but its unbelievably hard for beginner. That damn baree chord F always costs me a perfect run. And the quick change in the chorus is even harder. Furthermore, this is a song you only reckognize as such if you also song the lyrics. Otherwise its really hard to guess that this is "the letter". Unfortunatly i have to give up, this is defenetly no song for beginners :(

  • @Nokpest11 Hello - The problem is, that there are many songs that you probably will want to learn how to play that require the F chord.

    Enjoy and keep practicing.

  • Hey, nice lesson, eventhough i need to practice a little more. Keep up the good work.

    Regards from Germany!
